In this edition of the New York Times, Joseph Staszewski writes about Herbie Allen and his current job at CBS Sports.
Herbie says his job is "watching college basketball games, knowing what players are transferring and updating the website."
However, Allen has said that he wishes to play professionally in Europe. The former Stags guard has played in Belize and with the New Jersey Express of the ABA. The Queens native has played the last two summers with the national team including in the Central Basketball Championship last year.
I wish Herbie Allen all the luck in the world. He is someone who you can easily underestimate but he showed in the injury plagued 2008 season that he can lead a team. He was arguably the Stags best player down the stretch and led them to a semi-final appearance. He says that is his ultimate goal and I hope a team gives him a chance because he has so many intangibles.
